Florida accountant scoops £10m lottery win An accountant from the US is counting his lucky stars after he won more than $20 million (£10 million) on the lottery.

Ian McNair, who hails from Coral Springs in Florida, won half of the $42 million jackpot in the state lottery on February 10th.

The ticket he bought at a Chevron gas station turned out to be one of the two winning Lotto tickets, the second of which is still unclaimed. His lucky numbers were 10, 11, 18, 24, 26 and 35.

Different ideas

According to his mother, Mr McNair has not let the win go to his head and he still has his sense of responsibility.

She told the Miami Herald newspaper: "He is going to work tomorrow - that's his nature."

However, her son apparently has other ideas. He said: "Hard work eventually pays off. I'm not ever working again."

The Florida Lottery website claims that the chances of winning the Lotto jackpot are around one in 23 million. You are far more likely to be struck by lightning - the chances of that happening in your lifetime are about one in 5,000.

Late last year an accountant from Minnesota walked around for an entire month with a winning Powerball lottery ticket in his wallet, unaware that he had won. It was worth $47 million.
