Accountants 'happy in their jobs' The majority of accountants are happy in their chosen profession, but not necessarily with their employers, recent research suggests.

UK financial jobs website totallyfinancial.com carried out the survey and found that a large number of accountants said they would be moving firms within the year, while 90 per cent said they were content being accountants.

Bernard Howard, managing director of the website, said: "It's encouraging to see that such a high proportion of accountants are pleased with the career path they've taken.

"But firms should be worried about attrition, and need to explore the reasons why half their accountants are looking to leave within the next year."

Mr Howard also suggested that high staff turnover often has a negative impact on both business and morale, and employers should pay heed to this problem.

The survey also showed that two thirds were happy with the qualification they had pursued.
