The Management Consultancies Association (MCA) has appointed its new chief executive officer (CEO).

Alan Leaman has been unveiled in the role for the association which represents over 70 per cent of the UK consulting industry, reports consultant-news.com.

Mr Leaman is leaving his current role as the director of corporate affairs at the Association of British Insurers, which he has held for the last seven years.

It is hoped that his appointment will help expand the MCA's media presence, together with cementing its stance on professionalism and integrity.

Mr Leaman told the website that he was "delighted" to be joining the MCA.

"Whilst businesses may already be reacting to tougher times in the UK economy by tightening their belts, consultants continue to provide valuable advice on areas such as cost reduction and restructuring," he added.

The website also reports that a team of management consultants from firm Moorhouse Consulting raised over £21,000 for charity with a sponsored bike run from Scotland to London.
