Accountants 'falling ill due to work' A new study has found that accountancy is the profession in which people are most likely to fall ill as a result of work.

Research by Beneden Healthcare found that 24 per cent of people working either as an accountant or in the finance profession said that their work had resulted in them feeling ill.

Accountancy Magazine reports that it also found that 68 per cent of respondents said that the demands of their job led them to regularly feel "run-down".

Paul Keenan, from Beneden Healthcare, told the website that the health of workers is a "particular concern" in the current economic climate, as people are more "under pressure to work hard".

"It is important for employers to take into account the health impact work can have on their employees, and that they ensure their employees get sufficient rest time to recuperate from illness," he added.

A recent survey by Sage found that 35 per cent of independent business leaders go to their accountants first for financial advice as they are "most trusted".
