Britain's second-largest
bank has appointed a new trio of non-investment directors.
The Royal
Bank of Scotland (RBS) has revealed that Stephen Hester, Arthur Ryan and John McFarland are all set to join the board from October 1st.
According to The Telegraph, the trio have been recruited to "appease investors" and address "shareholder concerns" after a "turbulent period" for the
bank during which they announced losses of £691 over the first six months of 2008.
Mr Hester and Mr Ryan are the chief executive of British Land and the former chairman of Prudential Financial respectively, while Mr McFarlane was a banker with the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group.
Sir Tom McKillop, chairman of RBS, told the newspaper: "Their experience in financial services will be of great benefit to RBS given the increasingly diversified and international nature of our powerful banking franchise."
Earlier this week, KPMG announced that Donald Fleming is its new partner for pensions business in Scotland.
