Ireland 'hassle-free for business tax' A new study has found that Ireland ranks as one of the easiest countries in which to pay business tax.

Research by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) on behalf of the World Bank, ranked the nation sixth in the list of "most hassle-free territories" to pay the tax, reports the Irish Examiner.

Britain finished ahead of Ireland in fourth, with France and Germany ranking in 12th and 15th positions respectively.

The survey measures the levels of taxes paid by businesses in each country, as well as compliance systems implemented and the effectiveness of such procedures.

Colm Kelly, head of PwC Ireland's tax practise, told the newspaper it was "good news" for the country in "difficult economic conditions".

"This survey demonstrates that having simpler tax systems, together with competitive business tax rates, gives Ireland a real advantage in the market for attracting direct investment," he added.

A recent study by Tenon Group found that 26 per cent of business owners in the UK are thinking of relocating due to the high levels of tax they are forced to pay.
