Graduate recruitment may suffer in trade press

Graduate recruitment may suffer in trade press Trade magazine publisher Centaur Media has published double-digit falls in marketing revenue for the four months to October this year, it has been reported.

Lending more weight to support forecasts that 2009 will be a particularly difficult year for the media industry and ad-reliant media in particular, Centaur's figures are likely to concern many companies throughout the business-to-business industry.

Graduate recruitment is likely to decline but wise graduates may still be able to take advantage of editorial positions if they choose publications concerned with industries doing better as a result of the downturn.

Despite the 16 per cent fall in revenue, Centaur's trading statement insisted the company outlook remains healthy.

"We are confident that, during this period of economic turbulence, the fundamental strengths of the group remain unchanged and should provide a measure of resilience during any prolonged period of economic downturn as well as ensuring a foundation for strong growth as our served markets recover," Centaur explained in a trading update.
