Ernst & Young head of tax joins PricewaterhouseCoopers Paul Davies, the UK head of tax at Ernst & Young, is to join PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as a tax partner.

Mr Davies has been head of tax at Ernst & Young since July 2006 and will begin his new role developing key client accounts in May.

He said: "I am excited to be joining PwC and am impressed with the vision that the firm's leadership has of the future.

"I have made this decision because I want to work with the leading tax practice in the UK and globally."

Ian Powell, UK chairman of PwC, said that Mr Davies' previous experience and seniority would complement the firm's current tax team, adding that the appointment was part of an ongoing recruitment programme.

A report published by PwC this week suggested that more than one in four people are worried about how they will repay debts in the future.

However it also showed that of the 16 per cent already struggling with repayments, very few are considering how to deal with their debts.
