Accountancy firm E Jones & Associates has been taken over by Newbury firm EJBC, it has been reported, highlighting the strength in the accountancy sector despite the predicted recession later this year.
That the two firms are accountancy firms is a critical issue, as it highlights the fact that - even despite an economic downturn - there are sectors that are poised to flourish in such economic strife.
Emma Thomas, director of EJBC, told the Henley Standard: "The purchase gives EJBC access to several major business centres in Berkshire and Oxfordshire.
"We firmly believe the principles that have driven our Newbury practice growth will bring us success in Henley. With the Henley staff, our team has been strengthened further."
Graduate recruitment into accountancy jobs is likely to remain relatively high and those accountancy graduates who can become flexible enough to work in insolvency positions will no doubt have an advantage over competing graduates when looking for work.
