KPMG has announced that Oliver Tant will take over the role of UK Head of Audit.
He is set to succeed Richard Bennison, who became chief operating officer at KPMG Europe LLP.
Mr Tant will also join the firm's European Audit Leadership team, the Global Audit Steering Group and the UK operating team as part of his new role.
He has spent the last three years as the firm's Global Head of Private Equity alongside being a lead partner within the UK practice.
Mr Tant said he was "proud" of leading the team, adding it was full of "talented and high-quality people whose professionalism is second to none".
He added: "Auditors have always played a vital role in the effective functioning of capital markets - perhaps now more than ever, given the current challenging environment - and I am sure our people will have a very important part to play in restoring confidence in the capital markets during these unprecedented times."
KPMG recently appointed Stuart Shepley as partner in its Insurance Risk and Actuarial Services group.
