A new share index of professional services firms listed on the London Stock Exchange has been launched.
The index, which is the first of its kind, is operated by Noble and the Managing Partners' Form (MPF) and is aimed at boosting the profile of the sector as an investment opportunity.
Sir Nigel Knowles, chair of the MPF, claimed that as the professional services sector accounts for eight per cent of the UK economy it is a shame that the industry is "almost invisable" to investors.
He said: "Many professional services businesses are working in areas which are ripe for growth, driven by regulation and increasing complexity. These provide compelling reasons for investment."
Dubbed the MPF Professional Services Index, it excludes any firms with a market value bellow £20 million or above £1 billion.
Noble was founded in 1980 and offers a range of services to clients, including corporate finance and investment banking.
