Graduates are increasingly assessing a company's corporate social responsibility (CSR) when deciding on which jobs to apply for, it has been claimed.
Mark Catchlove, director of the specifier and design group at Herman Miller, has said that a rising number of graduates are taking social responsibility into account, suggesting that accountancy graduates of the future may be harder to attract.
The comments come as Herman Miller published a report entitled How and Where Will We Work in 2030?, in which Mr Catchlove forecasts three potential scenarios to the changing way in which offices will operate in 20 years' time.
Asked about whether or not some changes are already taking place, Mr Catchlove said: "Without a doubt, [changes are] starting to happen. The survey shows that a lot of graduates in the current climate are looking at companies based on their corporate social responsibility."
Accountancy graduates may already be steered towards the public sector as a result of the recession and its effect on the recruitment numbers within the private financial centres.
