Accounting firm KPMG has been honoured with the Auditor of the Year Award in the Big 4 category at the Real FD/CBI Finance Directors' Excellence Awards in London.

Over 850 finance directors around the country voted on which of the Big 4 firms should win the coveted award.

The head of audit at KPMG in the UK, Richard Bennison, said: "We are delighted to have won this award for the third year in a row, especially as it represents the views of UK finance directors."

Fellow Big 4 firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) had to be happy with being awarded Advisory Firm of the Year.

RSM Robson Rhodes, based in London, won the award for Auditor of the Year outside the Big 4.

Revenue and Customs meanwhile won the award for Government Agency of the Year.

And the Young Finance Director of the Year Award went to Cobra Beer's Dynshaw Italia.

Meanwhile, PwC's troubles in Russia continue, as a Russian court has published papers accusing PwC of conspiring with the Russian oil giant Yukos to commit tax fraud.
