Parents 'prefer work to family holidays' People might be forgiven for thinking that after hard slog crunching numbers accountants would look forward to spending some time away from the office, but it seems that for some this is not the case.

While single employees might find the idea of a holiday appealing, research by Hirescore.com has found that 63 per cent of parents think a week away with the kids is more stressful than spending the week at work.

It also revealed that 57 per cent of them worry about the backlog that will build up in their absence.

Taken together, these two factors mean that around half of parents do not look forward to their holidays.

Lisette Howlett, founder of Hirescores.com, said: "It is important to take proper holidays so there may be some useful learning on how important it is to prepare to be away, including ensuring a quality hand over of the work [to colleagues]."

Furthermore, separate research by Expedia.co.uk has found that two-fifths of Brits will not take their full holiday allowance this year, meaning the sight of the office could become an all too familiar one for some.ADNFCR-868-ID-19171916-ADNFCR
