Accountants 'should take a general outlook' Accountants should adopt a more general business outlook even if they are working in a specialist role, it has been claimed.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Post, Steve Denison, the new head of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in the north of England, explained that the current economic climate means that people working for the firm cannot afford to take an isolated view of things.

"With the pace of change in the world we need to be aware of everything else that's going on in relation to businesses," he said.

PwC will also look to attract new clients during the recession, because it cannot afford to stand still, Mr Denison added.

He takes on the role of head of PwC in the north from Ron McMillan, who will now be leading PwC's operations in the Middle East.

Recently, PwC was given the Auditor of the Year (Large Six) title in the Real FD/CBI FD's Excellence Awards.ADNFCR-868-ID-19210028-ADNFCR
