Staff to occupy dual roles through recession Graduates may find their job search is tougher this year than in previous times.

A not-for-profit organisation has explained a number of businesses may be sending their staff on short-term secondments to other roles to avoid redundancies.

WorkwiseUK explained its new scheme was designed to help businesses and employees through the recession.

The organisation's chief executive Phil Flaxton explained it had come up with the StaffShare scheme after realising a number of businesses had employees that were being under utilised.

He added it was a good way for staff to find temporary work without giving up their permanent post.

"There are organisations out there - particularly in the third sector, the charitable sector - who during the summer months are very willing to take these people on a short term assignment," Mr Flaxton said.

According to the latest unemployment figures from the Office for National Statistics, the number of unemployed people in the UK is 2.26 million.
