Two of the UK's largest accountancy firms have appointed new partners.
Ernst &Young has revealed that it has promoted 48 people to partner status across the UK and Ireland.
Meanwhile, its rival PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has promoted 33 staff internally and has appointed 21 new partners from outside the company.
Ian Powell, chairman and senior partner at PwC, stated that the firm is keen to appoint new staff despite the recession.
He said: "This partner intake demonstrates our commitment to recruiting and retaining the best talent even in the most challenging business environment in a generation."
The firm is determined to ensure it can offer its clients a broad range of specialists, Mr Powell added.
Earlier this week, PwC was ranked 7th in the Best Brands of British Origin List.
The firm was the highest placed financial services company in the survey conducted by Brand Finance.
It also beat well-known names including Marks and Spencer.
