Jobseekers 'should consider gap year' Accountancy graduates may be interested in recent advice given to people who have been made redundant.

While in a slightly different position, the tips from gapyear.com founder Tom Griffiths may be useful in the search for a job.

The expert suggested those looking for employment may benefit from taking some time to travel and experience other cultures.

He suggested companies would look at the time as being well-spent, rather than wondering why there are gaps on your resume.

"It's seen as a positive on your CV, the fact that you're not sitting back looking unemployed," Mr Griffiths stated.

One suggestion the expert made was that people volunteer for projects in places like Africa, where they could pick up beneficial life skills.

His comments come after Travelex noted the high level of redundancies is creating a new generation of "grown up gappers".

Unemployment in the UK is currently at an all time high, while the number of job vacancies is also at a low level, meaning graduates may have to go to extra lengths to find meaningful employment.ADNFCR-868-ID-19294563-ADNFCR
