Big 4 accountancy firm Deloitte has teamed up with Barclaycard to offer its employees a carbon offset corporate charge card.
Made of recycled plastic and carbon neutral, the card is aimed at offsetting some of the ecological impact of the goods and services bought by the company using it.
The card will be offered to all of Deloitte's 11,000 UK-based staff.
Bob Warburton, a managing partner at Deloitte, said: "We are delighted that Barclaycard Business has been able to respond to our requirement for a product that moved away from the traditional model of cardholder rewards."
New processes that have been developed between Barclaycard Business and Barclays Capital will provide the carbon offset element of the card.
Deloitte will buy Certified Emissions Reductions (CER) through Barclaycard Business, with the help of Barclays Capital's Emissions Trading Desk.
And Barclay Capital will cancel the CERs, which will ensure that the certificates are not tradeable in the future.
Carbon offsets generally consist of "buying emissions" from companies and attempting to offset them through measures like planting trees, or fertilizing the ocean so algae can suck gas out of the air.
