Recruitment 'should be a combined process' Accountancy graduates seeking their first full-time role may be interested to hear that the Recruitment Society has criticised plans to move most of Jobcentre Plus' services online.

While the organisation agrees that using technology is a good idea, it feels that there can be no substitute for human contact in the recruitment process.

It was referring to a proposal by employment minister Jim Knight which would see users of the service able to perform most of their correspondence with Jobcentre staff via the internet.

Recruitment Society chairman Steve Huxham explained that while the move would help some people get into employment, it is still important to have someone to talk to face-to-face.

"Despite the online age we live in, a lot of those people who are going to struggle to find jobs are going to need a lot of training and support to make the best of that," he said.

Mr Huxham added that jobseekers need access to skilled advisors who can help them find the jobs that suit them best.ADNFCR-868-ID-19496821-ADNFCR
