Government announces new employment measures Accountancy graduates seeking their first full-time role may be interested to hear that the government has announced new measures to tackle the "social wave" of the recession.

As part of the plan, a new white paper has been drawn up, entitled Building Britain's Recovery: Achieving Full Employment.

It plots a £400 million course of action over the next year-and-a-half, with three-quarters of the total earmarked for tackling youth unemployment.

It is on top of the additional £40 million set aside for the 61 Working Neighbourhoods Fund hotspot areas.

Commenting, YoungMinds director of campaigns Lucie Russell explained that it is important to make sure young people have the skills to deal with the mental impact of being out of work, as it can often lead to anxiety and depression.

"Lack of work not only means financial hardship, but the absence of structure and opportunities to socialise with work colleagues can create high levels of emotional distress," she added.ADNFCR-868-ID-19519143-ADNFCR
