New youth employment project launched Accountancy graduates aged between 18 and 24 may be interested to hear the latest government plans to help young people into work.

Those who have been searching for employment for more than six months will be guaranteed a job, work experience or training under the Care First Careers initiative.

The will also be offered pre-employment training packages, while employers will be incentivised with £1,000 for taking on a young worker under the scheme.

Institute for Employment Studies spokesperson Becci Newton said there are gains to be had on both sides of the employer/employee divide.

"Employers gain someone on a work trial in essence - try before you buy opportunity. If they are matched with young people who have a real interest in gaining skills and experience things could work out well," she said

Ms Newton added that while the scheme would be useful, a "wider package of support" for the employer may help ensure the project's success.ADNFCR-868-ID-19587667-ADNFCR
