It isn't only its success in surviving the recession that accountancy firm Pierce Group is celebrating. This year also marks its 80th year operating in the financial sector.
The Blackburn-based organisation was originally set up in a small office in Accrington, the Lancashire Telegraph reported.
Chief executive John Green told the paper that the company is aware of the pressures many local companies have experienced during the recession.
"These past 12 months have been among the hardest of the last eight decades. No one knows more than Pierce just how difficult it has been for businesses of East Lancashire - we act for a large number of them, although we're always looking for more," he said.
However, Mr Green believes that 2010 will be better for companies as he has seen that confidence in Lancashire is growing again.
This view is not supported by Big Four accountancy firm Ernst & Young's (E&Y) recent survey that discovered senior executives are still nervous about the economic recovery of the country this year.
