Financial advisers should work more closely with other professions As a result of a survey from life insurance provider Aegon, independent financial advisers (IFA) are being encouraged to work more closely with those in other professions.

Aegon discovered that IFAs do not receive enough support when arranging business protection and the development of a better relationship could help improve this, the Financial Times reported.

Accountants are hopeful when it comes to working more closely with advisers, the Building Professional Connections report revealed.

The development of a better relationship with IFAs was believed to present an opportunity by 63 per cent of accountants taking part in the survey.

Eight per cent also revealed that they were open to the possibility of working more collaboratively with IFAs in the future.

One company that has already built up relationships with legal firms is independent financial adviser Melville Hutchinson Financial Management.

"If they meet clients who have maybe had an inheritance or an obvious need for financial services advice they tend to put them in our direction," director of the company Malcolm Good told the paper.
