Graduate job hunters will be interested to hear that the employment market is slowly recovering and that demand for new employees is growing at the strongest rate for three years, according to a recent report.
Researched conducted by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and KPMG showed that permanent staff placements increased for the sixth month in a row in January 2010 and that jobs for temporary staff increased.
The findings from the 400 recruitment and employment consultancies quizzed could be taken as evidence that the market for graduates will improve as a result.
Bernard Brown, partner and head of business services at KPMG, said "The UK jobs market is continuing its journey back to health.
"Placements of permanent and temporary jobs have been rising again in January, although at a slower pace than a month before, a reminder that the road to recovery will be bumpy."
Earlier this week, a study of HR professionals across the UK showed that 19 per cent of firms were hoping to hire more graduates in 2010, compared with seven per cent in 2009.
