Graduate job hunters could gain employment from renewable scheme The government's scheme to boost renewable energy take-up could lead to the creation of 300 new green energy jobs, providing a potential employment avenue for graduates.

Ed Miliband, the energy and climate change secretary, today (February 1st) announced the finer details of the feed-in-tariff scheme that was first unveiled in the chancellor of the exchequer's pre-Budget report last year, with the green sector expected to be a beneficiary.

John Swinney, director of strategy and corporate services at green outsourcing firm eaga, spoke at the launch and confirmed that his company will be "recruiting and training renewable energy engineers directly from the local communities where the green technology is being installed".

He added that eaga "expect thousands of households to benefit in the first few years and up to 300 additional green energy jobs could be created as part of this programme".

Government estimates value the green technology and goods market at £110 billion and claim that it provides nearly 900,000 jobs.ADNFCR-868-ID-19590858-ADNFCR
