Future of Banking Commission makes progress Progress is being made by the Future of Banking Commission, which calls for the views of the public, cross-party politicians and lobby groups regarding banks in the UK.

Bank of England governor Mervyn King, City minister Lord Myners and Financial Mail personal finance editor Jeff Prestridge are among those that will be giving evidence to the commission.

A report will then be created that will detail all of the conclusions from the commission. Following the General Election this document will then be passed on to the new chancellor.

The aim of the commission is to affect the reformed banking systems through the integration of any findings into new policies.

Labour MP John McFall and Liberal Democrat Treasury spokesman Vince Cable are two members making up the Future of Banking Commission panel.

The commission was founded by consumer lobby group Which? the organisation hosted the Big Banking Debate public forum in London last week.

Which? chief executive Peter Vicary-Smith said: "Ordinary people are still feeling the repercussions of the financial crisis yet their voice has so far been missing from the debate about how to rebuild our banking system."
