Nearly half of UK accountancy professionals intend to look for a new job once the country's economic situation recovers.
According to a survey of 220 industry professionals carried out by accountancy recruiter Martin Ward Anderson, ten per cent of the accountants looking for a new role would consider taking a cut in their salary for the right job.
Over a quarter of accountants would consider accepting a pay cut of 20 per cent if the conditions were appropriate.
"The reality is that many of these people have been expected to do considerably more work by their employers during the recession, and have little loyalty to their current workplace," Paul Robinson, director of Martin Ward Anderson, said.
Out of the 220 respondents to the survey, most were earning an annual salary of between £50,000 and £75,000.
The accountants that revealed they would be prepared to take a pay cut if the conditions were right said that they would accept an annual salary of between £45,000 and £67,000.
Female accountants received good news regarding a fairer wage they may receive in the future when the Equity and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) announced that employers that make their gender pay imbalances public will get limited immunity from investigation.
