Government launches new female employment initiative Female accountancy graduates may be interested to hear that the government has announced a new women's employment strategy.

The initiative is aimed at creating more high-skill part-time jobs for women in order to cater for the 42 per cent of females who work less than full-time hours.

Launched on February 9th by the Equalities Office, the plan hopes to stop the UK's female workers having to downgrade to less skilled and poorer paid jobs when switching to part-time.

It will focus on creating a more hospitable environment for flexible working in the hope that more senior roles will be offered on a part-time basis.

Everywoman training director Toni Eastwood OBE explained that working fewer hours should not devalue a worker's status or role.

"Companies and organisations need to maintain a flexible, talented and balanced work force, reflective of their customer base - part time and flexible working is a very realistic way of helping to achieve this and enables employers to attract and retain a more talented workforce," she added.ADNFCR-868-ID-19611005-ADNFCR
