Carsten Kengeter revealed as UBS' highest-paid banker Switzerland's UBS has announced its highest paid banker is Carsten Kengeter, co-chief executive of the company's investment banking division.

Last year Mr Kengeter was given a bonus and salary package totalling £8.2 million. This is four times the amount received by group chief executive Oswald Grubel.

The majority of London-based Mr Kengeter's pay was paid in bonuses and cash shares that amounted to £7.8 million. This was paid on top of his base salary of £416,000.

Goldman Sach's Asian trading operations were run by the investment banker before he joined UBS in 2008.

Over £62.8 million was paid out by UBS in salaries and bonuses last year, around ten times what it paid in 2008.

Headquartered in Zurich and Basel, UBS is a global firm providing financial services to private and corporate institutional clients.

The bank reported improved fourth quarter profits last month that were made due to lower costs, lower own credit charges and a tax credit.
