The north-west is set to cement its place as a hotspot for
accountancy professionals in the near future, an expert has claimed.
According to Barry Flynn, the Liverpool partner at Big 4 firm Ernst & Young (E&Y), the area is vibrant and conditions are ripe for expansion.
"The UK firm sees the north-west as a booming economy with potential for significant growth and is investing in the region," he told the Liverpool Daily Post.
E&Y, which operates in 140 countries and counts about 114,000 staff among its number, will also aim to recruit more workers in Liverpool, said Mr Flynn. He outlined plans to increase heads to the 100 mark in the next five years.
In addition, he dismissed suggestions of an exodus of talent to Manchester, with Merseyside currently in demand of local government and capital project advisors.
"Broadening our service lines is top of the agenda in the coming year," he added, while noting that the last year has seen staff numbers rise by 20 per cent.
