
Accountants could be flocking to Liverpool in the near future as thousands of new
banking and finance jobs are to be created in the capital of culture.
Property consultant Knight Frank has predicted that nearly 7,000 new vacancies are to be created in the financial sector over the next five years.
The firm stated that the northern city will beat the impact of the credit crunch because "stockbrokers and investment managers are increasingly attracted to Liverpool as a place to do business".
Insurance and
banking jobs will experience a growth of 11.4 per cent, it added.
Claire Higgins, head of commercial research at the company, explained that although there are some concerns relating to the economic slowdown, the healthy start to the year has led to a positive outlook for 2008.
According to an Accountancy Age salary checker, the average salary for an Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales qualified
accountant with six years' experience in Liverpool is currently £50,556.
