Accounting "dream job" With recent reports of salary increases, increasing recruitment and further training, an accountant may be the perfect job right now, it has been reported.

A UK survey by a recruitment firm recently revealed that salaries for accountants reached a record high last year.

Robert Half's Global Financial Salary Guide discovered that new regulations meant both graduate and seasoned professionals were competing on an equal level.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune states that increasing government regulations are leading to a shortage of talent in the accounting industry and therefore for those who are fully trained, there are a number of benefits.

For public companies, Georgia Fisher, director of the undergraduate business programme at St Thomas' Opus College of Business, claims a "single piece of legislation might have increased accounting expenses by 50 per cent or more".

One accounting student Danny Abrams told the newspaper that the reason his degree is so useful is that it can be applied to such a range of jobs.

He explained that a large number of firms are approaching universities and "gobbling up" students for accountancy jobs at a faster rate than ever before.
