SMS specialist Broca has announced the appointment of David Beswitherick as its new finance director.

Mr Beswitherick has left his position as chief financial officer of medical technology company Myconostica to join Broca, where he will replace the outgoing Jocelyn Morgan.

The 52-year-old chartered accountant spent 12 years at Manchester United from 1994, during which time he filled the roles of group financial controller, director of group services and group company secretary.

He has also had spells as group company secretary of Trader Media and interim group financial controller at electronics business Zetex.

Welcoming Mr Beswitherick's appointment, Broca's managing director Ian Price said: "He has experience in a wide range of industries and with a number of companies in their early development. We look forward to drawing on this experience … as we drive the business forward."

Meanwhile, recruitment and training company Spring Group has revealed that its chief financial officer Peter Darraugh has handed in his notice, although he will remain in post until a successor is appointed.
