Lloyds TSB has announced that its group finance director Helen Weir has been promoted to group executive director for UK retail banking.
Ms Weir moved from her position as group
finance director for Kingfisher to join the bank in 2004, having earlier held senior positions at B&Q and McKinsey & Co.
Eric Daniels, chief executive of Lloyds TSB, said that her background in the retail sector and performance in her current role had made Ms Weir the ideal candidate for promotion.
"As group finance director she has an in-depth understanding of the retail bank and is the obvious and natural choice to lead the division through the next phase of its development," added Mr Daniels.
The appointment comes after Terri Dial left Lloyds TSB to join Citigroup as chief executive officer for consumer banking in North America.
Ms Weir's former deputy Tim Tookey has been named acting group finance director for an initial transitional period.
