Sean Williams of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) has been named Corporate Financier of the Year by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales's Corporate Finance Faculty.

Mr Williams, the head of the Big 4 accountancy firm's corporate finance consumer brands division, won the award after advising on 11 deals worth a total of £1.1 billion during 2007.

His team worked on 26 deals during the year - including high-profile projects such as La Tasca, Abel & Cole and Eldridge Pope - to ensure they were the best performing mid-market consumer brands unit in the UK for a fourth successive year.

On receiving the award at a ceremony at London's Goldsmiths' Hall, Mr Williams said: "I see this award as recognition for the huge effort the whole team put in to delivering that success."

The award is a second high-profile honour for PWC in under a week after it was named Advisory Firm of the Year at the Real FD/CBI Finance Directors' Excellence Awards.
