The Accountancy and Actuarial Discipline Board (AADB) has appointed a new chairman.

Timothy Walker will undertake the role after current chairman, Mike Fogden, decided not to seek a further term in office. Mr Walker will combine the role with being executive director of the Financial Reporting Council (FRC).

Sir Christopher Hogg, chairman of the FRC, spoke of his delight that Mr Walker has agreed to become the next chairman.

"I am confident that his wide and deep experience of public service in general and regulatory issues in particular will be of great value not only to the AADB, but also to the FRC as a whole," added Mr Hogg.

Mr Walker retired from the civil service in 2005 and previously held the role of director general of the Health and Safety Executive. It is reported that he has extensive European and international experience from his civil service career.

During April the board of the FRC endorsed the continuation of the tenure of Paul Seymour as chair of the board for Actuarial Standards and he has become an executive director of the FRC.
