Australian niche job board operator CountingJobs has announced the acquisition of the NowHiring group.

CountingJobs was created three years ago and has grown substantially over the period, having entered into alliances with key industry associations and specialist media.

NowHiring group's portfolio includes a range of global niche job boards and was launched in 2002.

The exact figures of the deal have not been announced but it has been described as a "significant amount" and "one of the biggest job board acquisitions to happen in Australia

Mike Thomas, IT systems developer and founder of CountingJobs, said that the acquisition positioned the company to expand further into global niche markets. He added that CountingJobs would be looking to migrate its boards onto the NowHiring platform over the coming year.

"Niche job boards are starting to gain real traction with Australian recruitment companies and large direct employers, and many of these are now dropping one or two of the large generalist boards to focus more budget in specialist niches," he concluded.

Mr Thomas followed up the successful creation of CountingJobs by launching other job sites such as FinancialPlanningJobs, FundsManagementJobs and RetailBankingJobs.
