New president of Cima announced The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (Cima) has announced a new president.

Glynn Lowth, who has been a member of Cima's council for over 18 years, was elected as the new president at its annual general meeting (AGM).

He has previously chaired disciplinary committees for the institute and served on the education and training, international and disciplinary boards.

Mr Lowth's current role is as IT manager for chemical company BASF. He qualified as a Cima associate in 1977 and formerly held commercial and financial management positions during his time the Boots Group.

He told the AGM that he was keen for Cima to "maintain our strategic momentum".

"It is an honour to be elected as CIMA's president and I look forward to leading the only Chartered Management Accountancy body with a sole focus on business into new markets and territories," added Mr Lowth.

The British Accounting Association Education Special Interest Group recently honoured Cima council member Professor Trevor Hassall for his involvement in accounting education.
