French law firm Gide Loyrette Nouel is to launch a graduate recruitment scheme in the UK.

Legal Week reported that the company will begin offering a graduate recruitment scheme next March.

It will look to hire two graduates for its City office every year.

The move follows the successful completion of Gide Loyrette Nouel's first training scheme, which saw the recent qualification of Gide's first UK trainee, Ricky Champion.

According to the publication, Mr Champion has now joined the firm's banking and finance practice.

Gide's Paris-based senior partner Pierre Raoul-Duval explained to the paper: "This is an important landmark for Gide and shows how far we have come since we opened in London in 2003. Gide has a unique ethos and our first choice is always to grow organically."

Partner Colin Mercer will take responsibility for the London-based training scheme. He added: "Our rapid growth and, particularly, the opening of our common law dispute resolution practice, meant this is the right time to start recruiting graduates.

"Despite market conditions we continue to be busy and we can promise trainees challenging and varied work in a world-class legal environment."

Recently, the Lawyer reported that competition for the best graduates was pushing up starting salaries at the biggest London legal practices.ADNFCR-868-ID-18697829-ADNFCR
