Sought after CVs for Assistant Accountant jobs will be detailed yet succinct documents, tailored to the job in hand. The information on your CV should walk the recruiter or employer through your work and education history, highlighting the relevant skills, experience and qualifications you possess that will enable you to play a crucial role in the financial management and accounting functions of an organisation. In this article we will detail a range of Assistant Accountant CV examples, tips and templates to ensure your CV is as successful as possible.

While there is no linear approach to writing your Assistant Accountant CV, there is a general layout that should be followed in order to provide recruiters with the information they need in a clear and concise manner.

Personal Details:

• At the top of the first page of your CV, write your full name, home address, email address and phone number.
• Ensure that your email address is professional, and that you check your spam email regularly to ensure nothing has been lost from potential employers.

Personal Statement / Overview / Summary:

Write a concise and targeted personal statement that highlights your career goals and what you can bring to the role of an assistant accountant. Highlight some of your key positions, skills and achievements. This statement should give your CV direction, demonstrating to recruiters your objectives by outlining the type of Assistant Accountant role you are looking to move into. Aim for 3-5 powerful, keyword-rich lines:

Example Assistant Accountant personal statement:

“Part-Qualified ACCA Assistant Accountant / 1st class economics degree holder, with over 2 years experience obtained in the finance team of a global multi-million-pound manufacturing business. Proactive and technology-savvy with a proven track record of reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements and streamlining financial processes, resulting in measurable improvements in efficiency.”

Employment history:

Commencing with your current or most recent role, work in reverse chronology through your employment history including employer names, positions held, and time spent in each role. Using facts and figures, succinctly outline the value and/or mission of the companies you have worked for, followed by your responsibilities and achievements within each role. As the Accounting Assistant, how did you improve the business? How did you contribute to the overall financial health and success of the organisation? How did you support strategic decision-making processes?

Always remember to quantify your statements with facts and figures when applicable.

For example:

• Financial Record Maintenance: recorded daily financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

  • Achievement: successfully maintained error-free financial records, reducing reconciliation discrepancies by 20% and contributing to a more streamlined auditing process.

• Financial Analysis: conducted financial analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement, presenting findings to senior management.

  • Achievement: implemented a financial analysis framework that improved decision-making, leading to a 10% increase in cost efficiency and profitability.

Professional Qualifications and Education:

This section of your Assistant Accountant CV should be dedicated to your professional qualifications and educational achievements to date. Focus on the details of any accounting qualification and undergraduate degree. Anything prior to university – GCSEs, A-levels etc. – can be condensed (see example below). Remember to mention any other professional qualifications you have obtained or training you have undertaken.

Sample format:

Part-Qualified Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) - qualified circa. 2027

First Class Honours in Economics, University of Bristol, 2016-2019

Maths (A*), History (B) and Economics (A) A-levels, County College, 2014-2016
