 Group Financial Controller

Our client is one of the North West's leading growth businesses - a high profile ecommerce retailer based near Manchester. With a vibrant fast-paced entrepreneurial culture and turnover now in excess of £150m, the business is expanding on many fronts. The ongoing upscaling of the business has given rise to the need for a technically capable individual to lead the core finance team. The Group Financial Controller is a newly created role which will have a remit to drive ongoing change and improvement in the financial control and reporting environment of the Group and its main operating businesses to ensure that its capability is commensurate with the planned scale of the business over the next few years.

The Role

Leading the core finance team, key responsibilities include the following:-

  • Manage all aspects of the core finance function;
  • Review, assess and drive improvement in financial controls and processes ensuring that a rigorous regime is in place which is fit for the planned scale of the business;
  • Identify and assess key risk factors in the business;
  • Lead Financial Accounting and Balance Sheet control;
  • Oversee all aspects of Monthly Management Reporting;
  • Tax and Treasury;
  • Lead, manage and motivate the finance team;
  • Manage year-end statutory reporting process and audit;
  • Budgets and forecasts.

The Candidate

  • ACA, ACCA or ACMA qualified with at least 5 years’ post qualification experience and, if from a practice background, at least 1 role in industry;
  • Strong technical skills – ideally having stayed on in practice for a couple of years or more after qualifying (before moving into industry);
  • An excellent leader of people and builder of productive working relationships;
  • Enjoys working in a fast paced entrepreneurial environment.
