Assistant regional accountant for one of the UK largest charities, Leeds

Your new company
One of the UK's largest charities with a total income of over £190m. They operate throughout the UK with a mission that is focussed on working towards alleviating poverty. They have a range of projects from drop in centres, youth centres, training courses and so on. The charity is headquartered in London but have regional service centres throughout the UK including one in Leeds. The finance team have recently undergone some major changes that have resulted in a modernised structure and new vacancies in their service centres.

Your new role
The role of Regional Accountant is the most senior finance role within the service centre. The postholder will act as a business partner to multiple stakeholders within the charity, many of whom are non-finance individuals. You will assist stakeholders in the provision of business support, ensuring financial control and effective decision making. This support will include budget setting, forecasts and contributing to longer term financial plans. As the central point of contact within the region, you will ensure effective financial controls are in place and adhered to. The job duties will include preparation of costed proposals for new programmes (such as local authority contracts) and reviewing the viability of existing programmes such as charity shops. You will also have responsibility for preparing funding packages for property projects. Furthermore you will manage a small team, ensuring they are motivated through a time of change.

What you'll need to succeed
This role requires a fully qualified accountant with significant experience of liaising with a range of stakeholders and working within a culture of change. Experience of leading and managing a small team is essential. Charity sector experience is an advantage but not essential. This role requires someone who has a proactive and practical approach, able to support stakeholders through a significant change program.

What you'll get in return
The Organisation are a national and international charity with a strong reputation and long history. They can offer 25 days holiday and a competitive pension scheme. The job reports to a line manager who is based in London therefore offers considerable independence. It is an opportunity to act as a business partner to the charity and to be involved in projects from inception and throughout their life cycle.
