A superb opportunity for a Financial Controller to join a well-regarded college based in York, reporting to the Finance Director.

This is a broad hands-on role that will involve leading, developing, managing and motivating staff members across a range of activities including income, expenditure, VAT, contracts, grants and capital expenditure.

The purpose of this role is to ensure effective financial and management accounting across the College by:
*Managing and developing financial controls and systems within the Finance department and across the College
*Preparing, developing and analysing management accounts and other financial and reporting information
*Providing high quality support and advice services to budget holders, managers, and other staff at the College

Key responsibilities include:
*Lead the production of the monthly management accounts and other reports as required for senior management
*Taking responsibility for ensuring the accuracy of the accounting and control information held in and reported from the College's finance system
*Continuous review of financial, control and management information systems and procedures, implementing improvements across the College in conjunction with the Finance Director
*Preparation and analysis of cash flow statements, income and expenditure accounts and balance sheet accounts and reconciliations
*Assisting in the production of the draft year end accounts, supporting schedules and liaison with the auditors
*Provide management direction and development support for direct reports and responsibility for the performance management of the finance team

You will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with experience of operating in a senior finance position. You will have strong reporting and internal control experience as well as being commercially aware. Possess a "can-do" attitude to new challenges and the ability to adapt in order to align with a changing and growing environment. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills is paramount.

The Package:
*£40,000 to £50,000 per annum (negotiable dependent on experience)
