A rare and outstanding opportunity in a business and sector that is set to expand significantly over the next decade offering enormous opportunities.  The turnover of this group of companies is c£25m and the business has very ambitious growth plans that should see this pushing towards £40 million within 2 years.  This business requires a robust finance professional who is capable of delivering meaningful financial & management information to the SMT.

The successful candidate for this role will lead a small team and own end-to-end finance, run the accounting processes, create and deliver business critical financial insight and drive improved performance through the financial control environment as well as play a leading role in commercial development.

Main purpose of the role:
  • Working with all departments of the business to help them plan and manage their budgets, working closely with the Board to help them manage the overall business and maintain profitability.
  • Providing strategic and financial guidance, to ensure that the company's financial commitments are met.
  • Developing all necessary policies and procedures to ensure sound financial management and control of the company's business.
Main responsibilities:
  • Direct and control finance staff to ensure that they are appropriately motivated and developed and so that they carry out their responsibilities to the required standard.
  • Contribute to the achievement of the company's business objectives by providing advice and guidance on financial strategy.
  • Develop and control the company's annual operating budget to ensure that all financial targets are met and financial and statutory regulations complied with.
  • Provide financial advice and guidance to the company's managers and staff to enable them to achieve their objectives.
  • Oversee the preparation of the company's financial accounts to ensure that these are presented accurately and on time.
  • Develop and implement an internal audit programme to ensure that the company complies with financial procedures and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain all necessary systems, policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient financial management within the company.
  • Monitor external contracts and services provided by suppliers to ensure that these are operating effectively and provide the best value to the company.
  • Carry out all necessary actions to ensure that the company meets its financial and legal obligations.
A qualified accountant with strong technical accounting expertise and at least 3 years PQE, you will be comfortable with the initial hands on nature of the role as you find your feet, have experience of enhancing the accounting process, have the gravitas to work effectively with senior stakeholders and have a high degree of both emotional intelligence and intellectual horsepower.
