The Role

I am pleased to be working with a UK Private Equity house based in Reading who is seeking an Analyst to support the Investment Director.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with an accounting background to work closely with the Investment Directors and Managers on a diverse range of projects and develop a range of corporate finance and commercial skills.

The candidate would be based in an office of four people but work with other members of the team based offsite and with the finance, sales and marketing and operations teams at the portfolio companies.

There would be an opportunity to spend some time at the portfolio companies based across the UK (primarily South East).

Main responsibilities will involve:

Investment papers

Working closely with the Investment Director to document the investment thesis for new investments

Undertake market sizing and desktop market research to provide background to the investment

Carry out high level return on investment calculations

Share capital analysis

Presentation of financial statement data to provide investor updates Research

Prepare initial briefing papers on new investments and markets

Customer and competitor analysis for portfolio companies

Ad-hoc research as required

Financial analysis

Regular monthly financial analysis projects for portfolio companies.

For example compiling quote to sale conversion analysis, or sales data analysis from a web based company

Ad-hoc analysis as required as part of portfolio management accounts process and to support board reporting Management accounting

Assist the Investment Managers in establishing monthly management reporting processes for new investments

Assist with post deal finance review, improvement and integration projects

Assist with internal fund reporting

Assistance with financial model updates Due diligence

Assist the Investment Managers in undertaking due diligence on new projects Special projects

Opportunities to expand skill set outside of normal finance responsibilities and undertake special projects for portfolio companies, for example Google AdWords, SEO, Marketing data analysis, HR, R&D tax claim projects. Skills,

Experience and Qualities required:

The candidate must be a Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)

Prior experience in Management Accounts and financial modelling

Good written English and Report writing experience

Strong Excel skills i.e. Pivot tables, Lookups etc.

Strong communications skills and the ability to deal with people of all levels of organisations

Ability to work independently within a small team and manage own workflow

An attention to detail Energy, enthusiasm and a sense of humour are essential
