6 Months Maternity Cover Contract - Gloucestershire - £25000 Salary - Immediate Start - Assistant Accountant

Your new company

My client has recently moved to a new facility in Stroud. Based in the engineering market, my client has produced significant improvements in customer service and delivery. Dedicated to on-time delivery and technical excellence of products through the creation of pro-active and integrated planning procedures. You will be working within a really personable company where you will be able to demonstrate your versatile approach.

Your new role

In the role you will be responsible for the calculation of accruals, prepayments and loan interest on a monthly basis along with the maintenance of fixed asset register. Reconciliation of balance sheet control accounts on a monthly basis to include reconciliation of cash book to bank statements on a daily/weekly basis Maintaining the purchase ledger to include:

  • Posting invoices to the ledger
  • Identifying internal queries and discrepancies and coordinating with other departments to ensure these are resolved
  • Communicating with suppliers to investigate inconsistencies
  • Obtaining authorisation for invoices without PO's
  •  

Reconcile supplier statements to purchase ledger on a monthly basis ensuring all outstanding invoices are received in a timely manner.

Manage the input and payment of all utility bills (including telephone) Preparing the weekly BACS run to suppliers ensuring invoices are paid to agreed terms Work with Financial Controller and admin team to raise sales invoices when required Match cash receipts with debtor invoices and investigate discrepancies where necessary and responsible for completion of HMRC reporting requirements specifically.

Completion of monthly VAT return and reconciliation to underlying ledgers and submission of monthly CIS returns. Reconcile company credit card statements - making sure all receipts are filed and that transactions are coded to the correct general ledger accounts.

Arrange payment of expense claims ensuring they have the correct approval and are supported by receipts. Provide cover for other members of accounts team when required.

What you'll need to succeed

You will have a previous background in double entry bookkeeping and be competent in taking the accounts process to trial balance, have good communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a small finance team.
