greenwellgleeson are actively recruiting a Finance Manager for a start-up organisation based in Birmingham.

The Finance Manager should be ambitious, self-motivated and prepared to work to strict deadlines and targets. Although the right candidate will be part of a tight knit team, they will be expected to be able to manage and prioritise his/her own workload. Ideally the candidate will be located within an easy commute of Birmingham and have their own transport and a clean driving licence.

Profile
Qualified accountant with at least 5 years post-qualification experience.
Expert computer user. In particular, proficient in the use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Strong analysis, evaluation and processing of complex financial and accounting data with experience of writing reports based on that analysis.
Experience of delivering completed, accurate management accounts with recommendations and commentary.
Experience of preparing clear, concise, and comprehensive statutory financial statements, reports and written material. Strong organisational and project management skills with experience of planning, directing and supervising the work of others.

Key roles
Directly report to the CFO.
Oversee a team of Assistant Accountants (both UK and overseas)
Day-to-day operation of the finance function.
Day-to-day treasury management and continuous reporting of company cash position.
Assisting the preparation and monitoring of foreign exchange policy to minimise foreign exchange exposure and risk
Set up and structuring of accounting software Sage 50 accounts/SAP.
Preparing and controlling budgets/forecasts.
Providing assistance in the operation of the budgeting model for long-term forecasting, scenario planning and sensitivity analysis.
Preparation of monthly reporting (including the development of an enhanced reporting pack).
Development of a strong control environment including proactive cost management by cost base interrogation and challenging expenditure requisitions. Continuous improvement of Management Information Systems.
Input into and project management of strategy implementation.
Insurance Risk Management
Tax Planning
Developing and maintaining a strong control environment including proactive cost management by cost base interrogation and challenging expenditure requisitions.
Multi-site/project financial control including:
Review of purchase requisitions. Review and authorising bank reconciliations. Supplier relationships. Authorise Purchase and Sales Ledger payment. Capital additions. Reporting management.
Preparing, maintaining and reconciling group financial records and reports to ensure accuracy and completeness on a monthly basis or as required/requested.
Preparing, maintaining and reconciling subsidiary schedules to general ledger accounts on a monthly basis or as required/requested. Providing assistance with the monthly reporting (including the development of an enhanced reporting pack).
Compiling and preparing data for the annual audit and statutory account preparation.
Continuous improvement of Management Information Systems. Liaising with key operational stakeholders in the business (e.g. clearing bankers, auditors, service providers etc.).
