Qualified Accountant needed for post graduate Oxford College of the University of Oxford.
Your new company
Wolfson is the largest graduate college of the University of Oxford. It was established in 1966, and recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. It is housed in modern buildings on a beautiful site with outstanding and spacious gardens beside the River Cherwell in North Oxford. A new and impressive auditorium and academic wing have recently been completed. Presently it consists of around 60 Governing Body Fellows, 49 Research Fellows, 56 Junior Research Fellows, and over 600 Graduate Students, drawn from around the world, who are studying for masters degrees or doctorates. Your new role
The College Accountant is a full-time appointment. The role requires an in-depth understanding of and contribution to the development of an evolving reporting structure, responsiveness to the impact of changing parameters and a comprehensive knowledge of College activities, in order to reflect the substance of financial transactions correctly in the financial and management reporting system.
What you'll need to succeed
Candidates must be qualified accountants with extensive practical post-qualification accounting experience at a senior level. Applicants from all sectors are welcome.
Candidates must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and must be able to deal with and build relationships with a variety of people from different cultural backgrounds.
Candidates must be up to date with legislative and regulatory changes and be able to keep abreast of College policies, structures, developments and initiatives in order to ensure that relevant financial aspects are considered and reported appropriately.
Candidates must have substantial managerial experience and the ability to manage and motivate a team of 6 staff in order to achieve high standards in a complex organization and reporting structure.
Candidates must possess strong IT skills: must be proficient in using Excel, Word, and databases, have experience in using accounting systems and be willing and able to quickly learn new systems.
Candidates must have good budgeting and financial planning skills and the ability to produce accurate financial data in a clear, informative and concise format and to communicate relevant aspects to non-finance staff.
Candidates must be able to think clearly and logically and have strong trouble shooting skills.
What you'll get in return
The College Accountant's salary will be between £50,000 and £60,000 per annum, depending on the qualifications and experience.
The post is full time and permanent with a 3 months' probationary period.
The hours of work are normally 36.5 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm and Friday 9am to 4pm (including a 30 minute unpaid lunch break) and such hours as are required for the proper performance of duties.
The annual leave entitlement is 39 days, inclusive of public holidays. 6 days must be used for College Christmas and Easter closures.

The post is pensionable under the Universities Superannuation Scheme.
