Luton Town Football Club is a professional association football club based at Kenilworth Road Stadium, Luton. It was founded in 1885 and are affiliated to the Bedfordshire County FA. For the 2017-18 season, the first team will be contesting in the fourth tier of English football, League Two. In 2015, the football club identified the Power Court site in Luton town centre as their preferred site for a new stadium, and after a formal application process in the Summer of 2016, the club purchased the land later in the year.
The stadium will be part of a larger regeneration of the Power Court site that will include new residential apartments, two hotels, retail space and various bars and restaurants. Luton Town FC will be overseeing a 300,000 square foot retail development which will help fund the new stadium and future of the club.
Detailed Job Description
This is a newly created and key role for the club, reporting directly into the Finance Director. Currently, the Finance Director heads up the finance function and reports into the CEO. Due to the expansion outlined above, this is an exciting time to be joining the club, at the point of a new community project.
The Project Accountant will specialise in operations finance, property and project accounting and will have the necessary credibility to form working relationships with senior stakeholders. The role will encompass match accounting, performance analysis, preparation of budgets and forecasts coupled with managing the property development company. In addition, the Project Accountant will prepare KPI and cash flow reports for the Finance Director and Board, and business partner to non-finance areas of the football club including retail, catering and memberships, working closely with each in relation to budgets, forecasts and operations.
The role is varied and the Project Accountant will actively support the Finance Director in various projects whilst encouraging better finance processes within the football club.
